Neil Armstrong - first man to step onto the surface of the moon


Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012) or known as Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut, test pilot, aerospace engineer, university professor and United States Naval Aviator.

Biography:

Born: August 5, 1930

Father: Stephen Koening Armstrong

Mother: Viola Louise Engel

Active in Boy Scout and earned: Eagle Scout

He got his flight certificate before he had his driving license

He awarded with:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering (Purdue University -1955)
Master of Science Degree in Aerospace engineering (University of Southern California-1970)

 1st served the U.S Navy Officer and also in Korean War in 1951.

He left the Navy at age 22 and became Lieutenant in US Naval Reserve. (1952)
He selected for U.S Air Force’s Man in Space Soonest Program. (1958)

GEMINI 8 (September 20, 1965)
Successfully completed 6 hours in orbit (planned 75 hours) but due to few issues they cancelled the mission.

Gemini 11 (September 12,1966)
Successful completed mission of 75 hours in orbit with Pete Conrad and Dick Gordon.

Apollo 11
This Apollo 11 launched by a Saturn V rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida on July 16. He set his left boot on the moon surface July 21, 1969.He spoke the famous words "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”
The three astronauts returned to Earth and splashed down in the Pacific ocean and being quarantine for 18th days to ensure that they had not picked up any infections or diseases from the Moon.

Death:
In August 7, 2012 he did underwent for surgery to relieve blocked coronary arteries but he died on August 25, Cincinnati, Ohio causes by complications from cardiovascular procedures.
